How to Attract the Right Clients as a Female Videographer

As an up and coming female wedding and branding videographer, it is very important for me to make sure that I am attracting the right clientele. Being a professional providing a service that can appeal to a variety of people and industries, I am very careful who I decide to do business with. It is not in my best interest to  work with just any anonymous being from the internet. Yet, when referrals begin to dry up and you exhaust your friends list that is engaged, I definitely rely on social media to supplement my client list. In order protect time or being a victim of a potential scam. I have put together a list of the 5 best and organic approaches to attracting the right client as a female videographer.

  1.  Like my Work & Style

For me, the most important thing to first attract people and businesses to me is first, if they like my work and style. This is definitely the number 1 thing in finding and attracting the right client. They have to like your style and creative way about you as the first thing that will intrigue them as a potential client. Make sure you are clear and authentic on your creative style and work, so whatever you create for a new client they will love the way it came out because it matches the overall motif of your work.

   2.  Aligned w/ my Identity & Values

Right after loving your work and style, nowadays, more than ever it is so important to work with others that are closely aligned to your identity and values, especially as a female videographer. In order to protect our essence and our abilities to perform the job duties at the highest level of service, it is important to surround yourself with people and places that will allow this. So in social media posts, blogs, interviews, or whatever you may utilize to continue to extend your brand as a creative professional. To do so authentically as possibly when best served. Especially if it is an area of identity and value. Do so, without fear of the people that may not book you for who you are or what you say. You will attract the people that will book you because you are fearless for the things that you believe in. In so, I promise not only a better working relationship but better content too! It all matters.

  3.  Love, Laid Back Energy & Low Stress

Workstyle, how you interact with others, and your composure on the job is another huge factor in attracting the right client. Depending on the client, the project, and whatever all could be involved. Some personalities thrive and others struggle or even clash which can lead to a bad experience for all parties. Being upfront about your work style and what kind of vibe you bring to the day of the shoot as a female videographer helps attract the right clients.

      4.   Appreciate my Passion
As a creative professional providing a service, I find it valuable when a client recognizes and appreciates the passion you have your craft. The years of unpaid internships and other experiences you’ve gained to get where you are now feel like they really paid off. In turn this gives the videographer confidence to bring that same passion to each project that they are hired to work on.

      5. Making a New Friend
For me, when I find the perfect client match, it's not hard nore forced, I feel satisfied that the client trusts my vision. Harboring all the requirements above, enjoying the process, loving the outcome and results, possibly getting hired again, and during this organic cycle, gain a great friend in all of it. Basically, the way to attract a great partner or friend is the same way you would attract the perfect client. So the secret is out, though such an obvious method, it helps make sure that you can provide the most exceptional content to client as you can.

What I've Been Watching During Quarantine

6/1/2020

Picture
Among the shuffling between Netflix, Hulu, and recently HBO (just until June), and if I update my Roku player Disney+. As a lot of us have had the opportunity to catch on all those movies and T.V Shows that we have been meaning to watch over the years, due the stay at home orders around the country. Though the timing is a little off in showbiz season terms. When the country began to lockdown in mid-March, it was the middle to end of the spring TV season and the beginning of the summer blockbuster season. Yet as the state of movie theatre's is very up in the air at the moment and the lines of paid streaming, VOD, and other online access to top tier entertainment on the internet begin to blur. It can be hard to discern what is worth your precious binge time. I haven’t seen it all and I have barely ticked off the list of movies and T.V. Shows that I do have on my list that I have gathered through the years, but I have seen some pretty inspiring and thought-provoking work during this great pause that I would like to share. For someone with similar taste, that includes woman lead, indie comedy, weird, slightly nostalgic, and informational visual entertainment.

These are shows and movies that I watched and finished completely during quarantine that has made me think, left me connecting the theme to the characters, have made me laugh on multiple levels and if you’re into it I encourage you to check out and experience it for yourself.

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER

I started watching this show shortly after it premiered on ABC in the 2014 fall T.V. season. As a never Shonda Rimer, meaning that I have never seen any of her shows that include Grey Anatomy and the coveted Scandal. I figured though I should support this Black Woman writer who is doing exactly what I aspire to. Though Shonda is an Executive Producer and not a writer on the show the storytelling is just as superior. The HTGWM season finally ended this May of 2020 with six seasons and a full circle ending that I’d say appeases the fans. Including me, the show and the characters have evolved from there worst faults through the difficult decisions made to survive. Main character, Annalise Keating played by the great Viola Davis went through the biggest change of all, challenging her whole identity just live honestly and do so while still leaving a lasting legacy. If you have some time and love a good lawyer show you can binge-watch How to Get Away with Murder on Netflix and find the most recent season on Hulu.

INSECURE

Though most network shows have ended the big T.V. spring season, HBO and other streaming platforms don’t really abide by those confides. In mid-April, the 4th season of Insecure started with high fervor by the fans. As one of them, so far this season doesn’t disappoint as dots begin to connect from previous seasons that have been laying pipe for this very moment in each relationship of Issa’s life. HBO keeping the art of anticipation alive while I analyze and nit pick Issa and Molly’s friendship throughout the week until there is a new episode on Sunday. Catch previous seasons on HBO and new ones every Sunday at 10 pm.

BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW

Another HBO show (shoutout HBO) that I totally forgot existed until I recently got the HBO NOW app. An almost no-name band of black women sketch comedy actresses, so intriguing and when I selected the show I honestly did not know what to expect nor did I have any expectation. Yet with the backing of Issa Rae’s production company and HBO, I knew it would be worth my time and so it was! I binged the first season in basically a day. Completely enamored by the casts display of an array of the black woman and the range of characters played and abilities in acting and comedic performance. With special guests that include icons like Angela Bassett and Kelly Rowland, its slightly dark undertone, and true to culture comedy is just so good and refreshing. This show is like a dream come true and so happy to hear that it has been renewed for a second season!

LOVEBIRDS

Okay, now I know it may seem that I am just Issa Rae biased but in the Netflix show LoveBirds I was actually loving Kumail’s performance the most! As well as them together, kicking back at each other with such ease and being hilarious doing it. I love everything about this romantic comedy duo the combines to different audiences that can still love this movie. Anyone can, it has action, comedy, and infiltration of a secret society of orgies. Check out the movie on Netflix.

DAVE

This is by far my favorite show of 2020 so far,( Black Lady Sketch Show is just right behind) featuring real-life rapper Lil Dickey and telling his story in a way that I have never seen before. I knew of Lil Dickey before but Dave exposes the human mastermind behind Lil Dickey and all the little quarks and characters that make this come up story bloom into a beautiful and special show. Also, not to spoil it but there is a scene that looks like actual shit coming out of ass action and it's hilarious!

BIG LITTLE LIES

Like many, I rode the Big Little Lies train and almost didn’t make it to the end of the series. Probably never would have if it wasn’t for the stay at home orders. I couldn’t see what further the show has to explore and offer but boy was I wrong. The second season of Big Little Lies which you can watch on both Hulu and HBO, reveals each woman's obstacle that they have pushed away and ignored for so long, which have led to where they are now in order to ultimately heal and be better people for their family. What I loved most was the further exploration of Zoe Kravitz’s character which I was dying for in the first season. Unveiling a deep-rooted wound between her mother and the exact situation she is in after the push. I really loved the last couple of episodes of the second season and the addition of the amazing Meryl Streep. The show has great writing and storytelling, it is definitely a must-see!

FUCK THAT’S DELICIOUS

This is my idea of a good time. FTD is an institute in our household. As foodies and hip hop lovers, this show just gives us all the right vibes. Especially in a time where patrons have become weary of dining at their favorite or new dining establishments. It is funny, cultural, and makes you hungry to try all the cuisine that is out there in the World, giving us an authentic plate of love. The new season of FTD premiered this May and will continue with new episodes every Monday on the Vice app.

LA ORIGINALS

Exploding with so much culture, LA Originals is a beautiful story of cultural artist's from L.A. whose art and perspective spilled over into the Hip-Hop and Pop music industry in the early to mid-2000's. The story of two friends that rode the most creative and artistic ride through Hollywood and the real streets of Los Angeles. If you are looking for an inspiring and decade-defining story on how true creatives can come out and be successful while injecting pure soul and talent to the ones that have the platform to spread it.

WAITING TO EXHALE

I hadn’t seen this probably since I was a kid, in a packed movie theatre with my parents and my mom shielding my eyes with her scarf on all the “sex” scenes in the movie. Before the stay at orders started I was aware that Hulu had just added the movie to their roster. I felt drawn to watch it again for really the first time since then, now the same age as characters were in the movie. Without even knowing it, realized in the first scene it was set in Phoenix, AZ (hello, I just moved to Phoenix)! This Black classic takes a look at the expectation and actualization of love for a black woman in today's World. A full circle moment for me, was in episode 5 of Insecure, Issa is sporting a vintage Waiting to Exhale movie poster t-shirt that I now HAVE to have. Some real serendipity going on!

UNCUT GEMS

I’ve been wanting to watch this Indie underdog since it was in theatre's in December of 2019. When I saw that Uncut Gems was on Netflix, I literally jumped to the moment to watch this film featuring real-life characters Kevin Garnet and The Weeknd. This movie was not what I thought it was, an interesting idiosyncratic look at fate, luck, desire, and risk. It is worth a watch and the best performance I have seen thus far of Adam Sandler, he really took his persona and throw it out the window and for that, I applaud him and this work.

If you are looking for more movie suggestions or have your own comment below. I can literally talk about movies all day! Check back for more blog posts and updates from Milan Arielle Productions.

How I Use Pinterest to Manifest The Life I Want

5/15/2020

Picture
Since the masses have recently awakened to the concept of manifestation. I thought that I would share how I manifest the life that I want with Pinterest. As a visual everything; learner, entertainment intaker etc... It was easy to hop on the Pinterest bandwagon (albeit still very late though) with the visual nature of the social media app.

So how do I manifest the life I want with Pinterest? To quote The Minimalist I first “get very clear on my values.” Knowing exactly what I want my life to feel, look, and my why behind it is essential to manifesting the life you want no matter how you do it. Once I did that, I carefully created boards that would attract not only what I want in my life for the future, but also for my business and personal interests. That I have intertwined into a weave that is the Milan Arielle Production's Pinterest profile page.

Pinterest suggests having as many boards with as many pins as possible to increase your page visibility among other Pinner's. However for the sake of pure curation, I only save pins that I absolutely HAVE to save, images without even an ounce of doubt depict what I am envisioning in my mind. It is hard to explain, but when you see it you should know. There have even been times when I have scrolled past an image that I thought was not worthy, but as I kept scrolling all I could think of was that image so that meant I had to save it for a board. The same goes for the boards that harbor the pins. I have some boards that are private and don’t really correlate with my business or values but are used for more personal and recreational reasons, not intended for anyone but me. Not for any obscene reason other than I like for somethings to be kept sacred and private just for me. Among my private boards include my previous Pin likes that Pinterest put into a board a couple of updates back. As well as a Screenshot board that again Pinterest created when I’ve taken screenshots of pins for a hair reference. However the two private pages that I've actually created include a Work Outfits Inspo board and my most intentional board of all, my MAP Visualization Board. With the the MAP Visualization board I treat it just like a vision board for my career and business; Milan Arielle Productions. Adding pins that both inspire me as well as images and links to videos and articles that spark my why with people I aspire to. So if I am ever lacking motivation or need inspiration I can go to that board. One of my favorite features of each Pinterest board is their option to browse similar pins if you get bored looking over the ones that you have saved in the board. This allows you to gain similar imagery to what you were looking for, though they may not be save worthy it is always worth a look to see if there will be. If not a creative flare at least can be easily lit.

Pinterest has given me the space to organize and collect all of my thoughts into a perfectly curated gallery display, and when I scroll down the length of boards I’ve created. It is so aesthetically pleasing it almost feels like a bite size glimpse into my personality. The best way I have been able to manifest the life I want through Pinterest has been a combination of current, future, and past cherished experiences based boards. My current interest and values in life: Sustainability, Nature, Beauty etc...My future and desires: A home, creative project ideas, and recipes to make. And my past cherished experiences: travels and poems that commemorate a certain mood. Along with all that, I give back. I am a big believer that you can’t just take without giving back. So I have boards showcasing my work, cell phone photos taken, feels had in places I have visited or lived. It is actually a nice validation and reflection of your taste and style. It is also nice to see that others all around the World also love the imagery that you share on the platform across the array of categories and niches that exist on Pinterest.

Before I knew it, I looked up one day and realized that most of the things that are across my boards have come to fruition in my life. In my Future Home board I have tiny homes with gardens and green plants littered around them, and now I sit typing this in a tiny home with plants all around me. I’ve become healthier and conscious in each consumer decision I make and I attribute some of my success in my goals to Pinterest. What seems like such a simple social media concept has had a great impact on how I live my life. I hope sharing how I use Pinterest as a tool to organize my life goals and values can help you gain insight on how to make small decisions today to help achieve the life you want in the future.

I wanted to give you a glimpse of my daily corporate looks as a #femalevideographer. Sometimes it's not always about the video gear but how you present yourself to the client. So whether I am meeting a client downtown with my blue light blocking glasses. Grabbing coffee at my local coffee shop before working as a legal video specialist. Finding inspiring moments during a lunch break and organizing my thoughts in my planner before the end of the day. I am always ready, working, and confident in what I do and try to look it too!

Travel Tips as a Videographer

12/17/2019

Picture
Wherever one may go, it is an opportunity for a new and exciting scenery. As a videographer, this thought is  always at the forefront of my mind when I travel. Even if it is just two hours out of town there may be something unique to that space that will inspire me to bring along my camera gear for some stellar clips.
Whether you stick around your home state or travel internationally every month, check out some quick tips while traveling as a videographer.

    1. TRAVEL LIGHT
Don’t let the gadget geek in you take over your packing. It is important to pack light for cost savings on baggage for travel that requires flying. It saves in the weight you have to lug around with you during travels, as well as reduces the chances of losing things along your excursions.

   2. PLAN STRATEGICALLY
As a free spirit at heart, it took me a long time to wrap my head around the idea of creating an itinerary for my trips. To me the whole concept of traveling was to explore and kind go along with the flow around. Until I realized that I was missing out on a lot of opportunities I could be seizing, if I just took the extra effort to create a schedule that will fit in all my needs and wants of a vacation. While having the chance to shoot all the visuals on my shot list for that particular place.

  3. DON’T DO IT IF LOGISTICS AREN’T COVERED
Another time and money saver tip I have learned from experience and also goes along with the tip above. Logistics, it is so key to any travel plans you may have. Especially if you are going to a city that either doesn’t have great public transportation and therefore requires a rental car. This factor adds hugely to cost and scheduling of your trip. So if there is something you have planned on a trip that requires secure transportation and you have undetermined logistics cost not already ironed out ahead of said trip. It is best to save time and money and come up with a different solution, whether it be another shot or location, there can always be an alternative to the plan if you are flexible.

  4. TAKE TIME TO ENJOY THE MOMENT
This isn’t a hard concept to understand but one that is easily forgotten in the moment. After getting that sick shot, after having a laugh with old or new friends, take just one moment after the fact to be fully present in that moment, cherish it, take note of how you feel, what you see, and smell. Preserve that memory, because that is what traveling is most importantly about experiencing something new with people that you enjoy and can learn from.

  5. LET CREATIVITY FLOW
This is just extra encouragement, while in the barrel of shining shots speaking to you wherever you may be strolling. As excitement fills you and you get your camera ready to capture, fully lean into that creative flow, try that angle you see, make whoever is with you be the subject, go all in because you never know when you will be back. Also, to me that is what a vacation is all about, taking time from other jobs to workout your creative muscle in a new place, so don’t hold back, your the director of this time away.

How to Stay Inspired as a Hustling Creative

How to Stay Inspired as a Hustling Creative

The easy access to social media displaying what seems like every creative’s best artwork. While you are trying to find the will to create something that is truly inspiring. Not just garbage content upon content that is solely based on how high those kinds of posts rank on your analytics because if you don’t post consistently you will lose followers. In a world of constant content, 24 Hour News Networks, and having limited attention let alone connection with the ominous of others on the internet.

How does a hustling creative stay true to their inner child creative, to produce the best passionate project possible? Without sinking into pacifism, procrastination, and basically not making that thing that you do a priority. Like anything in life, to be great at something it requires practice but in the same breath patience and time to fill up your creative tank. So when you are upright at your desk ready to take heed. You will have fuel to pull from. It is part of the task of nurturing your inner child creative that liable to get cranky, so stay nourished. Below I have provided my Top 5 ways I like to Stay Inspired as a Hustling Creative.

  1. Surround Yourself with Like-Minded Creatives
With my current situation, fresh skin in a new city to figure out. To find a tribe that is worth your time and resources to cultivate. Which, in your home state usually happens from school, family, or other activities you may have been involved in. But as an adult, and especially a creative adult that likely may be a recluse, introvert, or awkward being. Don’t be deterred from the concept because having a squad is essential to growth. With the ability to collaborate, vibe out, get help from like-minded individuals that may have what you lack. A team, a community that can conquer better together than one can alone. The best musicians come from a group before they go solo. Even just the energy of those others may be what you need to charge up the inner child creative in you.

   2. Consuming Inspiration Outside the Home
It is immensely important when seeking inspiration to do it outside the comfort of your home when possible. Sometimes we may be physically or emotionally ill to leave the bed or couch, but if able the benefits of getting into the World are substantial. Some of my favorite ways to consume inspiration outside the home include attending the latest exhibit showing at my local art museum. Going to local free events that I know a lot of people will be attending, people watching is a great way to ignite inspiration. If nothing else, going to a movie or if feeing fancy the local symphony.

   3. Working on an Unrelated Project ( for no specific reason or expected outcome)
Sometimes to find inspiration for one project entails getting completely lost in another project that is absolutely unrelated to what you were working on. Get your brain churning without the pressure to produce something great. Just to simply do, it is not a distraction if needed to pull out the creative juices in you. Brainwork that will help you get into a space where you are able to focus and find a solution to your roadblock.  Some of my favorite hobbies/unrelated projects include puzzles, making jewelry, and cooking.

  4. Get Physical
This has become one of my favorite ways to gain inspiration. Lately, most of the time when I’m not feeling like my self, or finding it hard to motivate myself to chug onwards toward my goals. It is because I need to release, release all of the thoughts swimming in my head, release frustration from what you see, or how someone made you feel. When I am able to sweat it out, I am able to get out of my head, in survival mode, a change of gears and the ability to let go of the restraints I didn’t realize I was pulling on myself.  Blocking the creative in me. Some of my favorite physical activities include yoga, hiking, biking, and if I am able to find a partner, tennis.

  5. Organize
When in doubt organize. Your characters, plotline, or even location setting ideas, the best place to find what you are looking for is to find it hidden away in the details of something else. Maybe it won’t matter what your protagonist Top 5 Favorite movies are but maybe in rationalizing each pick for the list, a new path is laid ahead for you to explore. Or you could organize something else, but keep it simple. I don’t want you to be organizing your closet going on 5 days when you could have spent that time creating.

If this was helpful, please leave a nice comment and let me know what helps inspire you as a hustling creative. Make sure to follow me on all socials to stay up to date on the latest MAP blog posts.

5 Different Career Path's for Female Videographers

10/28/2019

Picture
I wanted to provide a basic career guide that not even my college professors could give me. One thinks when they begin studies in the career of film/video media, that you are obviously being groomed for the “industry”. Movies sets, T.V. pilots, and commercials in between. But those jobs require years of experience, contacts, or non-paid time that you won’t get at or can afford from a four-year institution or less. Whether seeking higher education or jumping right into a career field of visual storytelling, do it for the love of it, cause that will help drive the path that is right for you. In the “industry” it is already hard enough to compete in what was so long the boys club in the world’s most expensive cities. Female videographers with a passion for visual storytelling can still have a career in the field, living wherever you are.

  1. Legal Video Specialist
Probably the most unknown female videographer career path that boasts consistent work. Though not very creative work, work at a legal video specialist to film deposition, interviews, and other videotaped content for lawsuit cases are available. There is certification in this career path through the Court Reporting Association and is a career that is essentially available in every major city market. The career often includes a lot of traveling, and knowledge of the in’s and out’s of A/V technology.

   2. Wedding Filmmaker
A very rewarding and lucrative career that I wish I would have jumped into sooner. The art of telling a couple’s love story starting from their day of marriage, surrounded by their friends, family, and beautiful decor. It is a career path where you can work for companies or have your own set of clients that require a high level of customer service and communication. Building up a company through recommendations, gainfully booking up each season. Adding more to packages, to your equipment list, and possibly working exclusively for venues. The one thing about filming a wedding is it is a lot of work, going non- stop on wedding days with hours of editing to continue. It is important to schedule time wisely, don’t’ overbook yourself, and adjust rates over the years in this career path.

  3. Marketing/Agency Video Producer
The closest non-industry job that is pretty much like an industry job. If interested in advertising and climbing the corporate latter this is a great career option. Depending on what kind of market you live in you could have the opportunity to work at global agencies with high caliber clientele and the ability to make a decent living. Though with the rise of social media and with it digital marketing the need for video creators is on the rise everywhere. Take into consideration the demanding nature of this job that entails long days, some nights, weekend work and travel.

  4. Sports Videographer
With the popularity and accessibility of all sports games in varying degrees these days, gives way to more jobs in this arena, literally. If a previous athlete or have a love for the game, a career in sports videography or coordinating can be very rewarding. If you live in a bigger city with a sizable sports arena, seeking an internship and eventual career at an arena locks in work for all sports played and broadcasted there all year long plus other events like concerts and more. College sports within an institution is also a viable option for your career and an important member of a team when tape and playbacks are reviewed. Freelance work is also available for little league to high school sports as well as traveling amateur teams.

  5. Real Estate Videographer
For architecture lovers or real estate admirers work as a real estate videographer is a great avenue to pursue. A flexible yet busy and possibly demanding career that requires working with lighting heavily, using 360 cameras and drones indoors and out. Whether freelancing with an established real estate company or reaching out to real estate agents to help with listings. One can ultimately create a niche business that will make you an expert in this field.

With the advances in technology and our world being connected by just the click of a video from our phone to our social profiles. Video professionals are becoming a key asset for a number of business sectors and the need will continue to spread. Find an interest, seek out a mentor and focus on being the best and creative you can be at it. Stay tuned for more female videographer content on MAP Blog.

The Basics of Video Editing for Social Media

THINGS TO KNOW AS A SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEO EDITOR

As more attention and money gets poured in social media advertising. Agencies and brands alike are vying for the right strategy, the best piece of content that will lead to success in reaching their objective. Video content statistically performs better than any other types of content. The interactive and stylized look is exactly what social media is all about. Lucky for video creators this creates a new lane where our services are needed and at a varying of degrees. From big-budget studio projects with full animation, and moving graphics. To simple splice, dissolve and text. Wherever you may fall on the spectrum it’s good to be aware of all the different aspects that go into creating social media video advertisements.

  1. The Main Players
If a client isn't quite sure what are the best platforms to invest time and money in, let me break it down to you in terms of what and why. Depending on the brand some platforms will work better and make more sense than others, and if it doesn’t make sense don't take the time, energy, or money on it just because you think you have to. For the most part though, the main players of the social media advertising game include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Pinterest. There may more but for purposes of this blog we will only focus on these main 5. These are the platforms with the most profiles which means the most eyeballs to advertise to. Though these platforms make most of their revenue from major advertisers some of these platforms provide extensive analytic stats for the local business pages to find potential customers, clients, or jobs in their network. The game changer of it all is paid advertisements, through a social media platforms any business page can target the right audience and collect data information for those even the slightest interested in the representation of your brand through an ad.

     2. Different Forms of Advertisements
Within one platform there could be many different forms of advertisement for the many different ways profiles can socialize. For example, with Facebook on ones timeline you will find advertisement between friends post. Watching stories you will find ad's between your friend's stories an celebrity and blogger pages have become riddled with sponsored ads. It has been an evolution since the college email days that will soon infiltrate you direct messages and anything else they may have access to. Variety in how they advertise is also something that Facebook has pioneered among data analytics, and cross platform integration. Including video, photo, slideshow, or carousel sets. Facebook more than any of the other platforms' ability to manage and organize ads in the most analytically in-depth understanding of ads, makes its like any other type advertisement. Social media, specifically Facebook advertisement is the most cost-effective form for the data and insight accessible in return in finding customers and selling products since the peak of the newspaper.

   3.
Testing/Variety
Creating a well-curated advertising strategy on social media has to be done by testing many variables to reap the best results. Fortunately, ads are still very cheap for these platforms, and through A/B testing and thorough analytical understanding of each ad’s performance you can easily come up with an advertising budget that can in return make a profit. So if you are not sure if a photo or a video ad will perform the better than the other you can always test it against each other.

  4. Staying on Trend
It is also important to stay current with the latest trends, including trending hashtags, memes, and the latest news to stay relevant with your audience. As well as staying up to date with the newest way to convey content. With any sort of advertisement, it is imperative to explore new and creative ways to effectively showcase your brand. Instagram, in particular is a great for this, creators have been creative in the way they display photos with multiple photos in one post so it looks like a magazine spread. As well as using the whole grid as a puzzle, using a post as a pieces to the whole. With additional apps to help you easily achieve these looks. Whatever pops out, a little different or if you are lucky goes viral is for the brand's benefit.

  5. Captioning and Sizing

The last, but most important and overlooked aspect of social media advertisement, especially for videos and photos is the specs. That includes the sizing, pixels, codecs, adding of captions,  and including royalty-free music. The result in not following the specific specs for the particular platform you are posting for is having an un-optimized, possibly blurry, or text being cut off your photo, graphic, or video. What is really great is there are so many social tools that help you achieve the best looks on socials. For photos my go-to is www.sprout.com/landscape and for graphicsI have an account with Canva. For video, though I have yet to find something that can automatically size videos for you. However, I do use tube2gram.com to shorten youtube videos to the one minute amount of time available on Instagram. Captioning has become a great way for a video to be engaging without audio making it more accessible for potential customers.

I hope to this is helpful for any social media video editors out there. Either just starting out or knee deep in the game to consider certain aspects of video editing for social media. Comment any tips you may have to add to the list.

A L R E A D Y S E E N 📽Trailer Premiere!!!! I have been working on this project for over 3 years, the same amount of time I've lived in the house that this story is set in. I no longer live in that house and haven't finished shooting so there may never be the full feature for the screenplay I wrote. But....I wanted to put out a glimpse of this story and the self-produced footage in some capacity. So here it is! Thank you to my actresses @laurenj.williams and @_____taaylorr. Let me know what you think! Till then I'll be working on my next project! Find the full video linked below!
